OUR BEST GOSPEL ALBUMS OF 2012 (CONTINUED)

Hi there. Many friends have asked me over the years “If you love music so much, why not go out there and record your own songs- make your own videos.” Although I’m sure they mean well, I never take them seriously. That’s cos I know how challenging it is to produce a first class musical work. So, I always value it when I hear something exceptional and out of the ordinary on the music scene. Funny thing is there are a lot of exceptional singers producing exceptional albums these days and while that’s a great development for the Christian music industry, it definitely makes our job a lot harder. From Fred Hammond, to Marvin Sapp, Tamela mann to Vashawn Mitchell (the list goes on and on), Christian musicians all around the world were kept busy all year long in 2012 with the excellent and spirit-inspired releases from these ministers. So, although a hard task, the 4TLG team has come up with her top 2 gospel albums of the year.
Here they are!

2. God, Love and Romance (Fred Hammond)
Gospel legend, Fred Hammond awakens the church to her social responsibility in music with this 2-part CD that attempts to explore the various facets of love. As the title depicts, this album immediately gets you thinking and if you belong to the old school, we’d probably catch you saying something like “Oh, this takes me back to the days when we had real music.”

Fred presents love and romance as they should be; taking us all back to their true source; God.
With it’s dominant classic and jazz feel, “God, Love and Romance” is the perfect CD for newly weds and couples of all ages (especially those who love the classics). Get the full 32 track double disc set today on amazon and itunes. Then you’ll find out why it’s one of our favorites.

1. Identity (James Fortune)

“The curse is broken
My past can’t hold me
I’m more than a conqueror
That’s what he told me”

January 17, 2012 saw the return of  James Fortune, alongside his longtime crew; FIYA.
An Eighteen track CD packed with soulful music and inspiring lyrics like those displayed above, branded by the signature touch of the amazing crew at FIYA ; Identity gave Gospel music fans the best start in and helped many through 2012. The title track “Identity” speaks of  the deep cry in every man’s heart for change while “It could be worse” and “Hold on” mirror the everyday struggles faced by everyone.
This album is so rich that there is hardly any track without a heartfelt message. James has shown that great lyrics still sell as “Identity” topped the gospel billboard charts for 2012. As usual, it’s available on amazon and itunes
