Whew! We’re almost done with February 2013. Here at 4TLG, we decided to introduce something new- or should we say “someone new” this month. We realized that there are so many great christian artistes around Nigeria who are not only gifted but have also put in a lot of work in the music industry. That’s why we came up with “4TLG artiste of the month”. It’s our way of honoring and recognizing the fantastic work these artistes have been doing. For the month of February 2013, we’re proud to introduce “Psalmuel Bib” as our artiste of the month.

“Psalmuel Bib” (Akinbiyi Lanre Bibilari) is a dynamic song minister who fuses elements from various styles and genres into his music in a bid to reach both the young and old with his message.

With five years of experience on the Christian music circuit in Nigeria, which has seen him minister in various concerts and events across several Christian denominations, schools and universities, Psalmuel Bib has gradually built a reputation as a spirited worshiper.

“Wherever Psalmuel ministers, things change. You sense a shift in the atmosphere”

But music is not all there is to Psalmuel. The graduate of Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure also confesses to a love for teaching and believes music and lecturing can complement each other! You’ll have to see him to find out how.

He has an album titled Chapter one+ to his credit.Originally released in 2010 as “Chapter one”, hit tracks from the album sibe, na so!, and chemistry between us are available on hulkshare, reverbnation, iroking and soundcloud.

Psalmuel Bib is the crooner of the popular and much applauded songs “Sibe”  and “New land” . His most recent release “t’was grace” earned him a place as “4TLG artiste of the month” of February 2013 and his latest video featured top Nigerian Gospel act, Kenny K’ore in a track Produced by Tope Olugbode (TPiano) and titled “Na So!”

Order for a copy of his CD today online at or hard copies at Bible wonder land, surulere and Laterna ventures, Victoria Island, Lagos. You can also call Psalmuel Bib directly on 08036970928.

Jerry Omole Saxophone Workshop

Remember Kenny G, Gerald Albright or the almighty Grover Washington Jnr? For any young saxophonist, the journey to those heights will always seem herculean. I’m sure that’s why Jerry Omole, one of Nigeria’s top saxophonists, has put together a saxophone workshop for new generation Saxophonists across Nigeria.
World renowned jazz saxophonist Mike Aremu, Germany based jazz pianist, Dapo Dina and Sax Lecturer at the prestigious MUSON center, Imoleayo Balogun complete the world class team of facilitators for this workshop holding on Sunday, February 3, 2013. The venue is Royal Production studios, 2nd Odeku close, Yusuf Sanusi, off Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere, Lagos.

Hi there. Many friends have asked me over the years “If you love music so much, why not go out there and record your own songs- make your own videos.” Although I’m sure they mean well, I never take them seriously. That’s cos I know how challenging it is to produce a first class musical work. So, I always value it when I hear something exceptional and out of the ordinary on the music scene. Funny thing is there are a lot of exceptional singers producing exceptional albums these days and while that’s a great development for the Christian music industry, it definitely makes our job a lot harder. From Fred Hammond, to Marvin Sapp, Tamela mann to Vashawn Mitchell (the list goes on and on), Christian musicians all around the world were kept busy all year long in 2012 with the excellent and spirit-inspired releases from these ministers. So, although a hard task, the 4TLG team has come up with her top 2 gospel albums of the year.
Here they are!

2. God, Love and Romance (Fred Hammond)
Gospel legend, Fred Hammond awakens the church to her social responsibility in music with this 2-part CD that attempts to explore the various facets of love. As the title depicts, this album immediately gets you thinking and if you belong to the old school, we’d probably catch you saying something like “Oh, this takes me back to the days when we had real music.”

Fred presents love and romance as they should be; taking us all back to their true source; God.
With it’s dominant classic and jazz feel, “God, Love and Romance” is the perfect CD for newly weds and couples of all ages (especially those who love the classics). Get the full 32 track double disc set today on amazon and itunes. Then you’ll find out why it’s one of our favorites.

1. Identity (James Fortune)

“The curse is broken
My past can’t hold me
I’m more than a conqueror
That’s what he told me”

January 17, 2012 saw the return of  James Fortune, alongside his longtime crew; FIYA.
An Eighteen track CD packed with soulful music and inspiring lyrics like those displayed above, branded by the signature touch of the amazing crew at FIYA ; Identity gave Gospel music fans the best start in and helped many through 2012. The title track “Identity” speaks of  the deep cry in every man’s heart for change while “It could be worse” and “Hold on” mirror the everyday struggles faced by everyone.
This album is so rich that there is hardly any track without a heartfelt message. James has shown that great lyrics still sell as “Identity” topped the gospel billboard charts for 2012. As usual, it’s available on amazon and itunes

WELCOME TO 2013: Our Best Gospel Albums of 2012

I must say it feels good to be back. And I can’t think of a better time to resume than now- in the new year. I’ll also say now that we’re back, we’re here to stay.
If you were with us before, we’re sure you’d notice a few (major) changes on this blog. Amongst them, I’d say the most significant is our new tagline “The Christian Music Hub”; and this is deliberate. That’s because Starting now, the team here at 4theloveofgospel will be completely dedicated to filling you in on the most recent happenings on the Christian music scene in Nigeria and all around the world. You can make this your destination for firsthand information about Christian music artistes and bands, latest gospel music releases, upcoming events and even interact with other gospel music fans from around the world. Trust that music videos, photo splashes, album reviews, and free downloads will all be part of the party.
So, we welcome you all on board.

To kick off this year, we’ve decided to share what we believe to be the best 3 gospel albums of the year 2012. Of course, this is strictly the opinion of the 4TLG (4theloveofgospel) team. So, feel free to counter our suggestions or even come up with your own list. We hope you’ll share them with us.
Here’s our list

3. JESUS AT THE CENTER (Israel and New Breed)

Recorded live at Lakewood Church in Houston, the “Jesus at the center” CD almost automatically becomes an addiction at first listen. There are absolutely no dull moments in this album released as a 2-CD set in a live worship experience. Unarguably the best live worship CD released in 2012, it missed out on the stellar awards but has so far received two Grammy nominations. With 21 tracks in all and an extended version consisting of 32 tracks available on Itunes, it’s not hard to fall in love with this album.
If you’re a worship leader, the title track “Jesus at the center”, “Overflow” and another titled “Your Presence is Heaven” will be an excellent addition to your set list for 2013.
Spanish American Rapper T-Bone and Israel Houghton did justice to the dance hall song “Te Amo” with the antics they put up on stage. With Israel himself later taking to the percussion set, he began a beautiful instrumental interlude that eventually paved way for T-Bone’s perfect finish.
At 4TLG, “It’s Not Over”; a song that artfully presents the message of hope and restoration is our favorite track from this album.
So check it out and let’s know what you feel about it. It’s available on amazon and itunes.
Also, get back to us on which albums you feel made your own top three.
In our next post, you’ll discover what albums complete our list. See ya.

THE SPIRIT OF FAITH (A book review)

In the words of Mark Hankins:

“Catch the spirit of faith and pass it on. You must catch the spirit of faith. The spirit of faith must be imparted. You can catch it by associating with people who have it. The spirit of faith is contagious! When you have it, you pass it on to others.”

“The spirit of faith is unlimited. It takes the limits off God. God is not only a big, big, big God; but he is also a good, good, good God! Take the limits off his ability and his goodness.”

“The spirit of faith believes and speaks the unlimited possibilities of God. The spirit of faith will make a Tadpole slap a whale. It will make you swing out over hell on a cornstalk and spit in the devil’s eye. You can never acheive the impossible if you never attempt the impossible. The spirit of faith will position you to possess God”s best blessings.”

(Excerpts from “The Spirit of Faith” by Mark Hankins.)
Thirty five chapters of spirit inspired writings on the subject matter of Faith have radically changed my thinking and speaking; and I’m not yet done! You can hear the voice of Jesus encouraging us to possess what he died to give us, calling out to the present day christian – “ACT LIKE THE BIBLE IS TRUE COS IT’S TRUE!”.
Mark hankins, in this book, challenges the beliver to use his tongue in fighting and winning the good fight of faith. He does this in his characteristic funny and “down to earth” style.
I recommend this book as a must read for every christian who aims at an ever increasing and limitless faith walk with God.
You can get this or any other book from Mark Hankins at your local christian bookstore or place your order online at or
